Plain Honey Mask

Honey Mask
Honey is a great remedy for skin blemishes and acne because the pH of honey is commonly between 3.2 and 4.5. This relatively acidic pH level prevents the growth of many bacteria.

What You Will Need:
- Honey
- Wash Cloth
- Warm Water
- Cotton Balls *
- Toner *
- Moisturizer w/SPF *
* Indicates recommended items.

Notes:
Unless stated otherwise, always start masks with a clean face! :)
Obviously, if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, do not try this mask.
It is a good idea to test the mask first. Apply a small amount behind your ear, wait 20 minutes, then wash off. Then wait 24 hours. If the skin behind your ear is normal, then go ahead and use the mask.

Steps:
Step 1: Soak wash cloth in warm water.

Step 2: Use warm wash cloth to help open pores.

Step 3: Put honey all over face, leave on for 15 - 30 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse of honey with warm water, follow with cold water to close pores.

Extra/Recommended Steps:
Step 5: You can follow up by taking a cotton ball and soaking it with your favorite toner and using a circular motion, wipe your face and neck.

Step 6: Once the toner had dried take your favorite moisturizer and pat it on. I highly recommend following up with a moisturizer. Even better - moisturizer with SPF! :)

Burt Bee's Pore Refining Clay Mask

Burt Bee's Pore Refining Clay Mask

A big thank you to RiceBunny for the idea! :)

What You Need:
- Burt Bee's Pore Refining Clay Mask
- Water or your favorite toner.
- Toner *
- Cotton Balls *
- Moisturizer w/SPF *
* Indicates recommended items.

Steps:
Step 1: Put a scoop of the powdered clay mask into your palm.

Step 2: Add either a few drops of water or your favorite toner. Burt Bee's directions says to add water but RiceBunny recommends using a toner instead to strengthen the mask. Be sure to not add too much water/toner. The mask does not require a lot of liquid but the consistency will be thin.

Step 3: Apply a even layer on your face - be sure to not skip the very blackhead/giant pore section of your faces, ie your nose, cheeks, etc.

Step 4: The mask will start out an odd green color and progressively get lighter as the mask dries. The rule of thumb is to leave the mask on for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 5: Rinse and you're done! :)

Extra/Recommended Steps:
Step 6: You can follow up by taking a cotton ball and soaking it with your favorite toner and using a circular motion, wipe your face and neck.

Step 7: Once the toner had dried take your favorite moisturizer and pat it on. I highly recommend following up with a moisturizer of some sort especially since the mask can leave some types of skin feeling dry. Even better - moisturizer with SPF! :)

Aspirin Mask

Aspirin Mask
Aspirin contains BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) which is a powerful defoliant and great at helping unclog pores and clear blemishes.
Honey is a great remedy for skin blemishes and acne because the pH of honey is commonly between 3.2 and 4.5. This relatively acidic pH level prevents the growth of many bacteria.

What You Need:
- Uncoated or Slightly Coated Aspirin
- Honey and/or Aloe Vera Gel
- Water
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Cotton Balls *
- Toner *
- Moisturizer w/SPF *
* Indicates recommended items.

Steps:
Step 1: Take a few aspirin and put them in the bowl.

Step 2: Add a few drops of water on top of the aspirin. You will notice after a few seconds the water will have started to dissolve the aspirin - Remember that you only need a little bit of water, you don't want the mask to be too soupy. You can always add more water if needed.

Step 3: Crush the aspirin.

Step 4: Add honey/aloe vera and mix. Once you have fully mixed the honey and aspirin it is ready to use.

Step 5: Place it all over your face. Leave it there for approximately 10 minutes - more or less whatever works for you.

Step 6: Rinse. Take advantage of the aspirin being an exfoliant and scrub your face as you rinse. And you're done!

Extra/Recommended Steps:
Step 7: You can follow up by taking a cotton ball and soaking it with your favorite toner and using a circular motion, wipe your face and neck.

Step 8: Once the toner had dried take your favorite moisturizer and pat it on. I highly recommend following up with a moisturizer of some sort especially since the mask can leave some types of skin feeling dry. Even better - moisturizer with SPF! :)

Enjoy!

Introducing...

Hi everyone,

my name is Kendra, I'm currently a 23 year old college student. I'm an Asian-American girl, born in Honolulu, Hawaii. I'm currently living just a few minutes outside our nation's capital - Washington D.C. My boyfriend Mike and I are high school sweethearts, we've been dating for just a little over six years now. Something to keep in mind - my boyfriend has Cystic Fibrosis aka CF and he's currently in the end stages of getting approved for a bilateral (both sides) lung transplant - his transplant team says that he should be transplanted before the end of '07 - so his health occupies most/a lot of my time. So if I don't update very for a little while it's most likely that I'm swamped with school and/or Mike's care.

I started this journal for my own benefit really and for the benefit of anyone who felt like reading it. :) I come up with a lot of ideas so I like to write them down and have them somewhere I can refer to easily in the future. I also like having someplace to write my opinions and reviews on products that I love or products that I think are complete crap. So even if no one else reads this, it's still serving a purpose just 'cause I sometimes have a hard time remembering if I liked a product or not, haha! :D

If anyone does read this, I think it's important when taking these tips/ideas to do your best to apply them to your life, budget and personal taste and skill as best you can. I'm here to offer help, ideas and suggestions. I have no real professional training in cosmetology - yet - so what I'm saying is that please don't feel that I'm not open to tips and suggestions as well. Trust me, I could use all the help I can get, haha! I also encourage you to take the ideas or tips you find here and make them your own and to share. ^_~*
